RE: No Challengerfest for me :(
Rob if you stay with the manual there is a trans shop in Wixom Michigan that specializes in Tremec's. They are the guys that built mine with the different gear ratios. I don't have a ton of miles on mine since the rebuild but have at least 15 good drag runs and trans works perfect.

They are D&D Performance and ask for Don Walsh (owner and really good guy).

Please Register or Login to view links.

They rebuilt my trans with new 1rst, 2nd, 3rd gears, cluster gear, and upgraded syncro's and shift forks for $1,700 which I think is a good price. Note there was nothing wrong with my trans when I took it in just wanted different ratio's so might be a bit more if you have serious damage in yours.

Craig is the gear set D&D installed hardened or just like the stock gears with a different ratio ? Refresh my memory again, what changes does the new gear set accomplish ?

Oh and there is always the Texas Mile in October. Smile

RE: No Challengerfest for me :(
Kenny here is how I remember this being described to me. The gear set is from a Cadillac CTSV. The syncro's were upgraded to carbon and the forks were upgraded with bronze pads. I thought that Don mentioned to me that the input shaft was also larger (upgraded) for the CTSV application. The Caddy has 560 ft lbs of torque stock so I have to believe that key parts are upgraded to handle the higher torque.

The change for me was mostly for the ratio improvement.

I can always give Don a call to verify but that is how I remember the discussion.

since it is still covered by warranty - Rockland is getting it back to fix. I heard they had some challenges with an upgraded input shaft and not sure if that was my problem or not.

honestly, I can't take anymore of this breakage. I know this was probably just an assembly issue, but god damn it...enough is enough. I'm also investigating a TH400 with a gear vendors overdrive and thinking hard about buying another car and doing a drivetrain swap.

The gear set was the same, but all the other goodies were upgraded in mine as well......

Rob- get with AJ. He was working on a 727 option and if I recall, he said it was an easier option.

RE: No Challengerfest for me :(
I would like to see AJ make the 727 happen, I always had good luck in the past with the 727's in the old school mopars. I'm sure if AJ is doing it, it will be right on!
